Terms of Service

Effective October 23, 2026. These terms are a binding agreement between you and the operator of Doomsday Tracker (doomsdaytracker.app). If you do not agree, do not use the site, the app, or an account.

The operator

The Service is operated by the person who can be reached at offgriddev@gmail.com. That person is the only administrator. “We,” “us,” and “operator” mean that person, not any data source, host, or contributor. The Service includes the website, the installed progressive web app, accounts, alerts, and the contact form.

Informational only

The globe, counts, histories, labels, and alerts are general information compiled from third-party public feeds. They are not an official outage notice, a utility report, an air-traffic product, a navigation aid, or an emergency service. Data can be wrong, late, incomplete, duplicated, or missing. A country, grid, or aircraft can be shown as down or airborne when it is not, and the reverse is also true. Percentages versus a “typical” day are estimates we chose. They are not a scientific baseline and not a prediction.

You will not rely on the Service as the only source for safety, travel, medical care, emergency response, grid operations, flight operations, dispatch, insurance, trading, or any decision where an error could cause harm or loss. If you need to know whether the power or the internet is out, or where an aircraft is, confirm with the responsible authority or operator.

Aircraft and outage data

Aircraft positions come from public radio broadcasts collected by third parties. You will not use them to harass, threaten, stalk, or identify a private person, to interfere with an aircraft or crew, or to violate aviation or privacy law. Outage and grid marks come from outside projects and utilities. We do not operate those networks and we are not affiliated with them. A mark on the globe is not our statement that a particular person, company, or government caused an outage.

No warranty

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM EVERY WARRANTY, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, QUIET ENJOYMENT, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, CURRENT, SECURE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR FREE OF ERRORS OR HARMFUL CODE. WE MAY CHANGE, PAUSE, OR REMOVE ANY PART OF THE SERVICE AT ANY TIME, WITHOUT NOTICE, AND WITHOUT LIABILITY.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE OPERATOR WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS, WHETHER OR NOT WE WERE ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY, AND WHETHER THE CLAIM IS IN CONTRACT, TORT, OR ANY OTHER THEORY. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS (US $50).

Some places do not allow certain disclaimers or limits. In those places, the limits apply to the fullest extent the law allows. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that the law says cannot be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence where that exclusion is prohibited.

Your responsibility

You use the Service at your own risk. You are responsible for your device, your network, and how you interpret what you see. You will not use the Service to break the law, to harm someone, to probe or overload our systems, to scrape in a way that degrades the Service, to misrepresent your affiliation with us, or to attempt to access another person’s account or the admin tools. You must be at least 18 years old.

If you create an account, you will give a real email you control, keep your password to yourself, and accept responsibility for everything done through your account. We may refuse, suspend, or delete any account at any time, including if we believe these terms were broken. Alerts inside the app, including a badge on the icon, are a convenience only. We do not promise they will arrive, arrive on time, or be seen.

Indemnity

You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the operator from any claim, loss, damage, liability, and expense (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your account, your message or suggestion, your reliance on the data, or your breach of these terms, except to the extent caused by our own willful misconduct. We may take exclusive control of the defense of any matter subject to this indemnity, at your expense, and you will cooperate.

Suggestions and messages

If you have a suggestion, use the contact form. Do not send anything you consider confidential or that you expect to be paid for. You grant the operator a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, and discard anything you submit, without notice, credit, or compensation. We have no duty to respond, to keep a suggestion private beyond this policy, or to implement it. Submitting a message does not create a partnership, employment, or confidential relationship.

Our content

The name Doomsday Tracker, the logo, the layout, and the text we wrote belong to the operator. Third-party data, map imagery, and trademarks remain with their owners. You may not copy the Service to build a competing product, and you may not remove credits or legal notices. A limited, revocable license lets you use the Service in a browser or as an installed PWA for your own personal, non-commercial viewing.

Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and, to the extent a state law must apply, the laws of the place where the operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You agree that courts in that place have exclusive jurisdiction, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there. You may bring a claim only as an individual, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, or representative action, to the extent that waiver is enforceable. If a waiver is not enforceable, the rest of these terms still stand.

Before filing a claim, you will email offgriddev@gmail.com with a short description and give us 30 days to try to resolve it. Claims must be brought within one year after the claim arose, or they are permanently barred, unless a shorter or longer period is required by law.

Other terms

These terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement. If a provision is held unenforceable, it will be modified to the minimum extent required and the rest will remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these terms. We may assign them, including to someone who takes over the Service. We may update these terms by posting a new version. The effective date will change. Using the Service after that date means you accept the update.
